Rosetta Stone Level I
A program that uses thousands of real-life images, written text and the voices of native speakers in a variety of modes or learning styles. Because the program uses pictures and sound to associate meaning, students work exclusively in the target language with no native language interference. Students can navigate through the material at their own pace, using their own natural learning styles. Students receive instantaneous feedback during each exercise. In addition, there is a tutorial option which guides students throughout the exercises and keeps track of screens with which they had difficulty and retests them on those segments. The program also has a voice recording option which allows the student to compare his/her voiceprint with that of the native speaker and a dictation mode which allows students to write the words, phrases and sentences spoken by the native speakers.
Instructors can select specific lessons for conversation groups, coordinate lessons with theme-based/task-based activities, assign segments as a review of problem areas or for inductive grammar study. Using the Student Management System teachers can track student efforts including time on task, material studied and test scores.
